Dear Year 8,
Here are some sites that will help you start to use ActionScript.
Basic ActionScript Commands – this site has the commands for starting and stopping your movieclip, and changing its properties such as transparency and size.
Controlling the playhead in MovieClips – this shows you how to stop and start the animation in a movie clip using mouse clicks.
Good luck!

Dear Year 7,
You are to complete this research by the end of this lesson.
Using the internet, find 5 CD Covers that relate to the CD cover you are going to design.
In your portfolio, under Research and Investigate, answer the following questions about each CD cover:
1. what are the main colours used?
2. What stands out? WHY?
3. List as many words as you can to describe the style of the CD Cover.
Good Luck!

Hi Year 8,
You will need to create a new folder in your Media Tech called “exam”.
Click on the images below and save the LARGE version in your exam folder. Double check that you know where they are and you can open them.
You will need BOTH of these for your exam.

Hi Year 8,
Below are two wonderful resources for your podcasting project.
Podomatic.com – a free online podcast recording site. You will need to sign up with your initial and lastname as your username & then test the recording & editing capabilities. We are testing this site instead of WildVoice.
Step 1 – go to the site.
step 2 – sign up with username firstinitial & surname e.g. jsmith
step 3 – go to my podcast
step 4 – click on post a new episode

step 5 – choose to record via microphone

step 6 – record & save your podcast sample
step 7 – Complete your comparison table in your portfolio to see if this podcasting tool can do all things you need it to. Are there any advantages to recording your podcast directly onto a website?
The second resource is a Free Sound Effects website. This will come in handy once you start recording your podcast.
Have fun!

Dear Year 8,
You are now at that exciting time of beginning your CD cover design!
You will need to use all the skills you have learnt to make your cover, and you will definitely learn more as you go along.
To start off you will need to adjust the colour of each photo you have taken. For example:
Or even just lightening up your image.
Remember to save different versions of your images each time you make a significant change.
e.g. imagev2, imagev3
We will discuss in class what to do next.
Good Luck!
