St Paul’s

Welcome

Hi! I’m Brittany and I’m the team leader for St Paul’s.

In Our School Group

When we had all arrived and taken our seats we began by ‘playing some games’. The first thing we did was answer some questions.  These questions were problems like ‘How would you  weigh an elephant?’ . This particular question had the whole group talking until Mrs Watson called us to order. Each of us chose one question to answer and then drew our answers on A4 sheets of paper. These we stuck on our pin board. Next we did an activity where we had to draw two walls. The first  wall was our bedroom wall. This wall had everything that we would put on our walls if we could paint what ever we wanted to. Our wall had a rainforest at the bottom and the night sky at the top. We included things like rocket ships and elephants. The second wall was a wall of challenges that could stop us from reaching our goals and doing what we wanted to. Some of the words that we wrote were homework, bullies and a lack of motivation.

After recess we played a maths game. We had to wright the answers to a pile of questions on a piece of paper. We came third with a score of 31. The we played a trivia game. We got all of the questions right. We also had to do a survey about how we learn.

Challenge A – Growing up in the Highlands

Student: Lily

Today I had to make a movie about what is good about the Southern Highlands. I had to make a story board. The story board was to illustrate what would happen in the movie. Then I had to draw all of the story boards onto A4 pieces of paper and colour them in. I also wrote a script so that when I filmed the movie, I would know what to say. Then I filmed it. I stood in front of a white board and Mr March filmed me with the story boards and while I said my script. I had a lot of fun and I hope that I can do it again.

Challenge B – 2020 Vision of Science

Student: Imogen

Today I researched personal technology. The group talked about watches, iphones and the sixth sense technology. I did a power point presentation on the information I found about these types of technology. I did ALL of the work, even though I was in a group with two boys! They weren’t from St Paul’s though. I had an awesome time! It was really fun. I would definitely do this again if I could.

Challenge C – Building a Bridge to the Future

Student: Kaitlin and Juliette

Today we created a bridge made from spaghetti. We put it together with a hot glue gun but we had to be conscious of how much it weighed and how much it could carry.

First of all we made triangles  (with spaghetti). Then we stuck them onto a longer piece of  spaghetti (at opposite ends). We had some trouble with the glue and accidentally glued our fingers together. It really hurt… it was HOT! We finally got our bridge together, and it managed to survive… just. We had a great time today, although it was slightly dangerous (because of the glue)!!! We would both do it again if we had the choice.

Challenge D – Impressive Impressions

Student: Jemma

Today I did drama. First of all I had to do ‘First appearence’ which was how to show people that you want to get to know them. Then I went around and found out what everyone was doing. I had to be like a spy so that they didn’t notice the I was there. I also played a lot  of games like Bang, which is a game that the year 10 drama students play in their drama classes. I had to wright a script to present at the end to tell every one what all of the others in my group had done. I had a great day and I had a lot of fun. I hope that I can do this again. It was really fun!

Thanks!
