Here is the Lacrimosa Score as a PDF also.

Here is the recording of the Mozart Requiem - Lacrimosa.

Over this term you will have the opportunity to work on a project that interests you at your own pace.  It will cover the three course components: Performing; Composing; and Listening. You will need to decide which of these three will be your Major Assignment and this choice will then determine your two Minor Assignments.

For example: I choose the performance major assignment, therefore I do the two minor assignments for composition and listening.

Please think carefully about what you would like to do as there will be regular checkpoints throughout the term to make sure you are working consistently. You will also need to have decided by Week 2!!

Major Components - You choose ONE from

EITHER:

Performing - Performance of a Classical Era piece (either traditionally or reworked)

OR

Composing - Compose a work using Classical characteristics up to 3mins in length (instrumentation up to you)

OR

Listening - Research the “Mozart Effect” and create a listening game for yr7/yr8 using the music of Mozart.  You can present your assignment in any format.

Minor Components - You will end up completing TWO

EITHER:

Performing - Perform a part from a peers’ arrangement

OR

Composing - Arrange a Haydn work for 4 instruments (score is given to you)

OR

Listening - Create a powerpoint presentation/podcast on ONE of the following works…

  • The Marriage of Figaro
  • The Magic Flute
  • Mozart’s Requiem

You will need to analyse the work and show this in your presentation.

Yr 9A Baroque Videos Part 1

February 4th, 2008

Year 9 have read an article about the phenomenon ‘Funtwo’ created on YouTube when he recorded himself playing the ‘Canon Rock’ originally written by Pachelbel. He didn’t play Vai, Slash, Clapton, Satriani or Metallica. Instead he ‘rockafied’ a very difficult piece to play on the guitar from the Baroque Era. Year 9A were then asked to research a baroque composer and find two videos showing a composer’s works in a traditional style, and then a ‘revamped style.’ This is what they have come up with.

• Ischabel - Henry Purcell

Revamped

• Isaac - Vivaldi
