The following resources will help you prepare for the workshop which will intruduce some challenging, university level concepts.
Before listening to the lecture, skim through the readings on Plato on the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy. If you enjoy the reading, read it in full. If you find it too challenging or too long, take a few ideas from different paragraphs and jot them down ready to make comments and ask questions at the workshop.

You might like to visit SpellingCity.com for fun ways to learn and practice your words. If you select Batch Entry, you an cut and paste this week’s word list straight in and the website will test you and make games for you to play with your words.
Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand has put together these terrific online exercises to help you learn about paragraph structure. Follow this link to the Academic Writing Module. The exercises were written for First Year University students who needed help with essay writing so some of the words are quite sophisticated. This site gives a great demonstartion of how to back up your ideas with evidence and the section on topic sentences shows how the topic sentence need not always be placed at the beginning.
