Lesson 2 – Getting Ready to Write Up a Science Research Project

Today we will learn how to access the school’s online video collection using the Clickview program.

We will locate a video called Scientific Method: How it Works

You will be invited to watch the video, paying careful attention to words such as hypothesis and variable.
We will work in groups to write up the aim and procedure devised by the students on the video.
Tips:
An aim often starts with the words, “To investigate the effect of..” or “To determine whether…”
A good procedure starts each step with a verb (eg pour, place or heat) or an adverb (eg carefully, gently, slowly).
A good procedure reminds us about managing safety risks along the way and indicates the precise amounts of all materials used.
