Ever dreamt of creating an artistic masterpiece?
Desperate to get rid of some junk?
Do both at the same time! Enter RevivART, a junk-art competition sponsored by the BDCU and organised jointly by Wingecarribee Shire’s Resource Recovery Centre (RRC) and Eco Expo with prizes sponsored by the BDCU and additional support from the Student Workplace Learning Program.
This is a great opportunity to produce amazing art AND dispose of unwanted junk. Entrants will be challenged to use their imaginations to turn bits and pieces of junk (unwanted) materials into clever and creative works of art.
RevivArt entries will be displayed and judged at the Eco Expo
on 29 March 2009 at Moss Vale Showground.
There are four categories and prizes:
- Primary School – $100
- High School, years 7-9 - $150
- High School, years 10-12 - $250
- Open/community - $500
In each category the prizes will be awarded to the work that best promotes the RRC’s Reduce Reuse Recycle message.
The work can be in any form — sculpture, collage, mosaic, fashion, jewellery, craft — as long as it’s made entirely from RECYCLED WASTE MATERIALS. No new materials are to be used other than adhesives (such as glue / string / solder / nails / welding) however the judges will be looking for innovative ideas and lateral thinking.
Additional junk such as pre-loved nails, house paints, frames, miscellaneous items and scrap steel is available from the RRC/Reviva! Which is open 9am-3pm Monday, Wednesday, Friday and the last Saturday of each month) and purchase what you need.
What do interested schools and members of the community need to do now?
Participants must register their intent to enter by February 13, 2009 using the registration form available at (http://ecoexpo.org.au), or by calling the RRC on 4868 0555. All schools will be sent registration forms.
Important information and dates:
Registrations close: 13 February 2009
Artwork must be taken to Moss Vale Showground between 8.30 am and noon on Friday 27 March or Saturday 28 March 2009.
