Meetings today with Mr. Craig and Mr. Bevan saw the creation of two blogs to support student learning.

History - Mr. Craig has a blog for all history classes. He chose to password protect the site (history/history) so that all students can immediately post their messages and the site will be free from spam. We also discussed Mr. Craig’s pioneering use of Wikis. We will continue to explore how to leverage student-generated knowledge bases.

Science - Mr. Bevan has begun a similar site for the study of the atmosphere. When students log-in to the Weblog, they can contribute posts immediately (student/password).

Next Steps - These are both great starts to promote more student-centric active learning. Both sites currently use default templates for the Blogs’ “look and feel.” More WordPress 2.0 templates are available. If you find one that you like (that is “widget compatible”), forward the address on to Mr. March and he’ll install it on the server.
